Movement 2024: What you need to know – WDET

Over 100 artists will perform across six stages at Detroit’s Hart Plaza during Memorial Day weekend.

The 2024 Movement Electronic Music Festival is upon us! Detroit’s Hart Plaza will once again transform into the epicenter of electronic music as over 100 artists will perform across six stages May 25-27.
Headliners include Detroit legend Carl Craig, DJ 3000, James Blake doing a DJ set, Detroit techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson going B2B with Idris Elba, Fatboy Slim, Chris Lake and more.

While there’s plenty to do within the Movement festival itself, there are also a ton of pre-parties and afterparties to check out.
The Official Movement Opening Party is on Friday, May 24, at Spot Lite. The party starts at 8 p.m. featuring performances by Natasha Diggs, Chicago House music pillar Derrick Carter, queer icon Gay Marvine and Detroit favorite Rimarkable on the patio. Tickets are $55 and the event is 21+. For more information, visit spotlitedetroit.com.
After the first full festival day is over, check out Detroit Defected at Spot Lite on Saturday, May 25. This Official Movement Afterparty features Al Ester, Carl Craig b2b DJ Holographic, Inner City, Shermanology, Stacey Hotwaxx Hale and WDET’s own Waajeed b2b King Britt. Doors open at 11 p.m. and the event is 21+. Tickets are $55-$65. For more information, visit spotlitedetroit.com.

Hart Plaza is located at 1 Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit. Below are directions courtesy of Movement’s official website.
From the North:
I-75 Southbound to I-375. Stay on I-375 and it will turn into Jefferson Avenue, Hart Plaza will be on your left.
From the East:
I-94 Westbound to I-75 South, to I-375. Stay on I-375 and it will turn into Jefferson Avenue, Hart Plaza will be on your left.
From the South:
Take I-75 North to I-375. Stay on I-375 and it will turn into Jefferson Avenue, Hart Plaza will be on your left. Please note that when leaving the festival, I-75 South is closed between Springwells St. and Northline Rd. so you will need to plan accordingly.
From the West:
Take I-94 Eastbound to I-75 South, to I-375. Stay on I-375 and it will turn into Jefferson Avenue, Hart Plaza will be on your left.
From Canada:
Via the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, turn right onto Jefferson Avenue, then take the first turnaround – Hart Plaza will be on your left.
Via the Ambassador Bridge
Take I-75 North to I-375. Stay on I-375 and it will turn into Jefferson Avenue, Hart Plaza will be on your left.
