Tampa's Sunset Music Festival postponed from Memorial Day to July 4 weekend – Tampa Bay Times
by June 12, 2024They held out as long as they could. But in the end, the party will have to wait a little longer for Tampa’s Sunset Music Festival.
The electronic music gathering, which less than a month ago assured fans it was “100% a go for Memorial Day Weekend,” has postponed its 2020 event until July 3-4 at Raymond James Stadium.
Hopefully.
“We understand that these are uncertain times and nothing is a guarantee,” the festival posted on social media. “We would love to be able to celebrate life and the love we have for each other on our Independence Day weekend.”

The broad reason for the postponement is the coronavirus. In an FAQ accompanying the announcement, organizers noted that “the City of Tampa is under a stay at home order and large gathering ban.”
This year’s festival was set to feature Rezz, Seven Lions, Slander and more. Organizers said 95 percent of the lineup had already been confirmed for the new dates, and they expect to announce the full lineup next week. It does mean the festival’s first day, a Friday, will take place on a weekday for the first time.
Tickets purchased for the old dates are transferrable to the new ones. Fans desiring a refund should receive it, but the deadline to request one is April 24.
“If the situation presents itself, we will put on a safe festival & we plan on trying to be that shining light at the end of this dark tunnel we’re in,” the festival stated. “We’re working closely with local and city officials to ensure a safe and enjoyable festival experience for all.”
