It’s an event that draws hundreds of thousands of people to Central Florida each year.
The Electric Daisy Carnival, better known as EDC, kicked off Friday at Tinker Field.
The event draws people of all ages and backgrounds every year.
They say it’s a safe place where people can enjoy music and show off their sense of fashion without judgment.
The Electronic Music Festival is like a giant rave with people turning up to party, dance and feel good in their own skin.
“This festival specifically is very EDM based. I feel like the electronic music makes people feel as though they are dressing more exotic. In other places, you don’t get to do that,” one attendee said.
“It is something that people are able to express themselves. Everyone is able to be open and welcomed, not only enjoy the music but also feel welcomed in the environment,” attendee Keisha Lee said.
And it’s not just the young people that enjoy the festival.
Marie Anne Molina-Cuevas is a first-timer who flew all the way from Myrtle Beach after her son convinced her to come and she has no regrets.
“I love music festivals. I love going to them. I love meeting people. You come up with very good friends when you go to them,” Molina-Cuevas said.
And how can you not make new friends with thousands of people expected to attend over the course of the next two days?
It’s a party that seems sure to not disappoint.
“One more time. How much fun are y’all going to have this weekend?” WESH 2’s Luana Munoz asked festivalgoers.
“So much fun,” a group responded.
