June 14, 2024

Chinese rapper Vinida Weng is generating a lot of buzz among South African music fans for her new track WAIYA!, which incorporates beats inspired by amapiano — a South African subgenre of house music that emerged in the 2010s.
“I thought my eyes were blurry when I saw “Chinese Amapiano”. This did not disappoint my curiosity, the lyrics, the rhythm, the beat, it evolved into its own style,” said one user on YouTube who marveled at the song.
