Get to Know Venga and Her Hybrid Tech House/Techno Style [Artist Spotlight] – EDM Identity

Venga is an award-winning rising star hailing from France. She has a knack for blurring the lines of tech house and techno while keeping it booming with a bit of bass house. Her talents began to turn heads following her track “Break Up” on Insomniac‘s Discovery Project, and popular labels like Sink Or Swim and Night Bass have been clamoring to get their hands on her beats!
These days, “In The City,” as well as her remixes of LP Giobbi‘s “If Love Is A Skill” featuring SOFI TUKKER and “Take It Off” by FISHER and Aatig, are must-listens when getting to know this imaginative creator. But her abilities don’t end in the studio. This beach-loving music maker has made major waves at noteworthy gatherings like Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), Tomorrowland Winter, Elektric Park, Rampage, and many more. This year, she plans on taking the rest of the world by storm.
Venga’s mixes are the key to uncovering the breadth of her artistry. Today, she dropped off a wild one. Hi Venga, thanks so much for taking the time to chat! This past year, you were recognized as “The Future Of Dance” by 1001 Tracklists and received your award at ADE. First and foremost, congratulations! Talk to us about your experience at ADE. What was your biggest takeaway?
Hey, nice to meet you!
First of all, thank you very much. I’m very proud of it. I had a great time at ADE! For me, it’s the best time of the year to make connections and see other artists and people from the music industry. It’s a great event, and the 1001Tracklists evening was incredible, with great DJ sets and a superb private evening with the trophy presentation — an unforgettable experience!
Your remix of LP Giobbi and SOFI TUKKER’s “If Love Is A Skill” won a spot on the former artist’s Light Places Remixes album. LP Giobbi has been opening up some incredible avenues for women in music. Can you talk about the inspiration she’s given to you? 
It’s true. I admire the work of FEMME HOUSE, founded by LP Giobbi and hermixalot. I came across the competition by chance and tried my luck. I think it’s great to give so much visibility to female, gender-expansive, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+.
I think we must continue to uplift everyone and remember that gender makes no difference in music — it doesn’t matter who made it, it must be made from the heart. I made this remix this summer in the south of France near the sea, and I think it is perfectly suited to the environment.
To make a name for yourself in this crazy industry requires sacrifice. In what ways has your personal life been affected, and what or whom do you turn to for motivation?
Honestly, my music career required a lot of personal sacrifice from me up and down; I’m not going to lie. But the feeling of producing tracks and then playing my songs live is so addictive that, for me, it’s priceless.
I think the most important thing is to surround yourself with professionals, and everything will be fine. You have to be aware of how lucky we are to get up every day and do what we love.
You’re based in France, so I’d love to hear your thoughts on how your location has helped influence your style.
As I mentioned before, I live near the sea, and creatively, this environment is very inspiring. I believe that wherever I go in life, I would need to have a beach. France — with its rich culture and many talented artists — has naturally influenced my art.
Can you give us your thoughts on the current state of tech house and techno?  
I believe that the tech house and techno genres are in an amazing place. You have to be unique and original to stand out because there are so many amazing artists out there. I love the excitement around this style; it’s inspiring!
Building off that, what are some changes that you’d like to see in the industry?
For me, I find that social media is a great tool, but it can sometimes get in the way of the actual art, which is the music. I’d like to see more of a balance between social media culture and the value of music.
Just for fun, if you could only listen to three tracks for the rest of your life, which would you choose and why?

“Pleasant” by SebastiAn featuring Charlotte Gainsbourg, “PURSUIT” by Gesaffelstein, and “Instant Crush” by Daft Punk.
For me, it’s important to choose French artists because we’re fortunate to have many talented ones, and I am very proud of that. Of course, these are tracks that have inspired me throughout my career.
Finally, 2024 is here, and that means it’s time to elevate your career even more! Can you talk to us about what comes next for you or some of your short-term goals?
Of course, we have some very good releases that are coming out this year with solid labels, and my manager and I are working on many upcoming opportunities soon. My project is also growing in Europe, and we plan to eventually have a strong footprint in the US.

Maria first fell in love with electronic music in the early 2000’s when she heard a little tune called “Satisfaction” by Benny Benassi. Since then she has dived headfirst into the scene and is wildly passionate about the trance, techno, and house genres. Festival’s like EDC, Dreamstate, and Dirtybird Campout hold the key to her soul and dance music will always and forever be a major part of her life.
