by June 16, 2024From: Liverpool, UK
DJ style: “Energetic house music.”
Best known for: “‘Ferrari’, Moving Differently, Who Does This?.”
Few DJs have a more fitting moniker than James Hype. The Liverpudlian is a force of nature behind the decks; a CDJ wizard who embodies the idea of DJ as live remixer, utilising every facet of the technology before him to build intricate and electrifying blends, switches and mash-ups of party anthems from across the house music spectrum. In the past 12 months, this has made for unforgettable moments across the dancefloors of Tomorrowland’s main stage, Miami’s Club Space, and number one club in the world Hï Ibiza, where he held down the Club Room every Friday alongside Meduza. James also shares these moments and the ones in between via his weekly Moving Differently show on YouTube, like moving to Vegas, hanging out with David Guetta, cooking up new tunes and even proposing to his partner, DJ/producer Tita Lau. While his sun-baked, guitar-licked, 2022 mega-hit ‘Ferrari’ continues to do crazy numbers (half a billion streams on Spotify alone at the time of writing), James’ newest track — slinky tech-house cut ‘Drums’ featuring German singer Kim Petras — dropped last month and is already racking up plays by the bucketload. Hype by name, hype by nature.
