Jamie xx and Robyn have joined forces on their new single, ‘Life’, combining lush house chords and stunning vocals. Part of Jamie xx’s upcoming album, In Waves.
When Jamie xx and Robyn team up, you know something special is on the horizon. Their latest collab, ‘Life’, has just dropped, and it’s already racked up 20,000 listens in 15 hours on YouTube alone.
This new single is part of Jamie xx’s forthcoming album, In Waves, the much-anticipated follow-up to his 2015 debut, In Colour.
If you’ve been following Jamie xx, you’ll know he has a knack for bringing out the best in his collaborators. ‘Life’ is no exception, combining Jamie’s lush house chords with Robyn’s ethereal and emotionally charged vocals. The result is a track that’s as infectious as it is uplifting.
The story behind ‘Life’ adds another layer of charm. Jamie xx recalls the magic moment he first heard Robyn’s vocals. “I made this track pretty fast (for me) and I loved it from day one. When I first heard Robyn’s vocal it was at 6 a.m. after finishing playing at Pacha in Ibiza, it was the perfect moment. Robyn and I have spent time working together and hanging out for some years now, it’s always a joy and always inspiring. I’m so glad and grateful that she is a part of In Waves. Thank you, Robyn, for bringing this track to life!”

It’s easy to imagine that early morning scene in Ibiza—the sun starting to rise, the euphoria of a night well spent, and the magic of Robyn’s voice filling the air. These moments often lead to the most memorable music, and ‘Life’ captures that essence beautifully.
As Jamie xx and Robyn continue to push boundaries and create unforgettable tracks, ‘Life’ highlights the obvious artistic chemistry between the Swede and the Englishman. This single not only sets the stage for Jamie xx’s new album but also reaffirms why Robyn remains a force in club-pop.
So, if you haven’t already, give ‘Life’ a listen. Let Jamie xx’s beats and Robyn’s vocals take you on a journey (but don’t stare at that optical illusion too long). And keep an eye out for In Waves – if ‘Life’ is any indication, it’s going to be a ride worth taking.
