by June 28, 2024From: UK
DJ style: “House, tech-house and techno.”
Best known for: “’Head & Heart’.”
Joel Corry has released more music than ever in 2023 as he worked his way towards his debut album, ‘Another Friday Night’, which arrived at the start of October. It features several of his biggest bangers from over the years, plus lots of new material and some special surprises. Part of his new and more prolific approach to releasing has been to “collaborate with more artists and freshen up my sound”. The Brit behind Love Island anthem ‘Sorry’ has done all that while holding down key DJ residencies in Las Vegas and, for 18 weeks of summer, out in Ibiza.
A highlight for him this year was his 2020 single ‘Head & Heart’ with MNEK hitting one billion streams on Spotify as he played festivals such as Tomorrowland and Creamfields and “had an unforgettable night headlining The Brooklyn Mirage in New York”.
Musically he’s been excited by the return of trance and seeing more club music than ever in the mainstream charts. And next up he’ll be “exploring new places that I always dreamed of visiting” as he tours Australia, Asia, Indonesia, the Middle East, North America and Canada, and makes plenty of debuts in new countries throughout winter.
Fave tune of 2023: “Eli Brown ‘Be The One’.”
Best DJ set you’ve seen in 2023: “Jamie Jones b2b Joseph Capriati at Amnesia Ibiza.”
Most exciting tech development of 2023: “The new Pioneer DJM-A9 mixer. It has most of the awesome features of the Pioneer DJM-V10 but retains the feel of the DJM-900NXS2.”
Rising star DJ/producer of 2023: “Hannah Laing.”
What gives you hope for 2024? “Dance music in general is becoming more experimental and interesting. The change in landscape has pushed me to try new things, challenge myself and evolve my sound.”
