A STYLISHLY renovated family home in the centre of Aston Tirrold is for sale.
When Sebastian and Jacqueline Gooch first saw Lime House they loved its feeling of seclusion within the village at the foot of the Berkshire Downs.
Mr Gooch, a retired barrister, said: “We’d spent 14 years in London and wanted to move closer to our children’s schools in Oxfordshire.

The couple, who are in their Fifties, rented a house nearby for a year while they transformed and extended the Seventies property, using Mrs Gooch’s experience as a project and design consultant.
“I have a large portfolio built up over 25 years which proved beneficial to our renovation journey,” she says.
Now Lime House covers 4,684 sq ft and has five bedrooms.
“We finally moved in in April 2021,” says Mr Gooch. “There is still scope to go up into the roof as the attic is large and the second floor landing is spacious enough to add a staircase.”
Lime House is situated on a plot of nearly half an acre in Spring Lane.
You enter the house via a stunning limestone hallway, which has a feeling of space. Off this are a cloakroom, the boot room and the family room.
Glazed double doors lead into the generous reception areas with views of the terrace and garden.
Oak herringbone flooring runs from the dining room to the drawing room, where there is an elegant, panelled fireplace with a wood burner as well as French doors to the garden. The sitting room has a large picture window overlooking the garden and adjoins the dining room.

Mr Gooch says: “This is a very friendly community with a fabulous pub, Olivier at The Chequers, which has been well-supported by the village, including Tim Henman and his wife Lucy, who helped to refurbish it.
“The ancient churches and architecture give it a glorious old English village feel and we have a big music festival every summer called Astonbury.
“We are hoping to move to Oxford now as the children are leaving home and we feel it is time for us to sample some city living.”
