Mexican DJ duo Le Twins, aka Karen & Karla de la Garza, stormed into the Top 100 DJs poll for the first time last year and it’s clear that the only way is up. They’re chiefly known for their charismatic stage presence, performing together and encompassing live vocals into their sets that cruise through bass music, trap, EDM and tech-house with a Latin touch. Right now they’re still riding the waves of their single ‘Takata’ on Spinnin’ Records off-shoot label SPRS, released at the beginning of 2023 — their biggest hit to date. Their newest single came on Mixmash Records, a collaboration with producer Angemi called ‘Entre Tu Y Yo’ — meaning ‘between you and me’ — which is a bass-heavy banger. They’ve toured across Europe, Asia, India and Mexico, and have been on the festival circuit with gigs at EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowland and more. “We have been focused on perfecting our own new sound, writing lyrics in Spanish for electrónica tracks as we are singers and songwriters as well,” the twins tell DJ Mag.
Hero of 2023: “Skrillex, Peggy Gou.”
Fave tune of 2023: “Anyma ‘Eternity’.”
Best DJ set you’ve seen in 2023: “Hardwell b2b Kevin De Vries b2b Dimitri Vegas at Tomorrowland after-party backstage.”
What was the most exciting tech development of 2023? “We are now obsessed with the new Arturia plug-ins, and also excited about AI.”
Rising star DJ/producer of 2023: “Mau P.”
What gives you hope for 2024? “That crowds are accepting genres such as techno on the main stage, and that Latin vocals are growing worldwide.”
