Moon Under Water’s Michael Crippin brings The Studio Public House to St. Pete – Creative Loafing Tampa
by June 2, 2024 By Kat Piccolo on Tue, Jul 27, 2021 at 2:13 pm
The Studio Public House has taken over the former Pom Pom’s Cafe location on Central Ave. in St. Pete.
The recording-space-turned-bar quietly opened its doors back in April at 2950 Central Ave, and has quickly become a staple for the Grand Central District.
Former Moon Under Water executive chef Michael Crippin redesigned the cafe with his wife Alison after purchasing the space last October. Not only can you find Crippin’s fan-favorite curry on the menu, but you can choose from the restaurant’s selection of sandos—a nod to Pom Pom’s old menu.
Right now, Studio Public serves beer and wine alongside its food selection, but eventually Crippin hopes to offer liquor. Right now, though, his focus is on adding coffee and grab-and-go sandwich items to the menu before the end of the summer, Crippin told Patch.
Food isn’t all they offer though. You can enjoy live music on the weekends, and even take a peek at the local art that gets changed out monthly. Commission doesn’t get taken from anything you buy. All the money goes straight to the artist.
The pub offers fido-friendly outdoor seating and is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. They’re closed on Tuesdays.
