NORTHERLY ISLAND — Necropolis Music Festival has been canceled just two weeks before it was to debut, fest organizers announced Wednesday.
The festival was the latest addition to Chicago’s music festival season. It was supposed feature a broad range of EDM artists performing Oct. 29-30 at two “massive” tent-covered stages next to Lake Michigan on Northerly Island.
But the fest is canceled, organizers wrote in an Instagram post Wednesday.
“We are sad to announce that Necropolis will not be occurring this year,” organizers wrote. “We strive to put out the best experience possible for our fans, unfortunately we no longer feel that we can accomplish this.
“We’ll be announcing additional indoor shows with some of the artists from the lineup in addition to our Excision Afterparty.”
People who bought tickets will receive information about refunds, organizers wrote.
The fest is produced by Auris Presents, which in recent years introduced ARC and Heatwave music festivals to Chicago. Taking place right before Halloween, Necropolis was supposed to have a haunted theme.
Two-day general admission passes were on sale starting at $129 and single-day passes starting at $79. Now, the website lists tickets for an “Official After Party w/ Excision” at $63.20 after fees.
