Nima Gorji’s just dropped a massive release on Suleiman Records, “Let’s Talk” EP, and it’s a masterclass in deep, groovy house music that brings a modern twist on a genre with all that old-school funk and swing that we’ve come to love. With a career spanning over 25 years, Iranian-born, Danish native, and Spain-based producer Nima Gorji has cemented his place as a legacy artist in the international dance music scene and is best known for his fluid, seductive cuts.
As Gorji’s work continues to captivate club-goers worldwide, we wanted to take a second to dive a little deeper into this release and see how this man works his magic and also gives a spotlight to Franco Cinelli, who was on remix duties for the leading track.
The EP’s leading track, “Freedom,” is an ethereal and groovy roller that slowly plays out and expands its layers without ever having a dull moment. The track starts with a steady groove, allowing each element to breathe and expand naturally, which really plays into the track’s strengths. It’s packed with little details, and its slow evolution allows you to catch every glimpse and moment.
This is mostly seen in what starts as a small arpeggiator, which gradually builds into a massive synth line. This leads to a larger-than-life breakdown that really takes the listener’s breath away as it evolves into a cosmic-style lead line that captivates the listener, especially once the filter is opened up.
Vocal chants and shots add just the right atmosphere, keeping each section fresh, danceable, and dynamic, allowing “Freedom” to exemplify Gorji’s ability to create an introspective and club-friendly tune for any setting (be it an after-hours gig or a poolside party at sundown).
“Your Mind” takes a darker, dirtier approach compared to the spaced-out vibe of “Freedom.” The track’s foundation is a syncopated and filtered bass line supporting bright, heavily digitized percussions. These elements create a captivating groove that drives the track forward from start to finish. Including classic 80s house chords, mixed low in the record, adds a subtle harmonic interest that underpins it all and keeps your ears locked on something melodic while the groove works its magic.
Vocal shots, delayed every few bars, are characteristic of Nima’s signature style and add an element of surprise and freshness to the record. Unlike “Freedom,” “Your Mind” opts for a far more relentless groove, leaving out the longer, defined breakdown section in favor of continuous, club-focused energy.
Franco Cinelli, a key figure in the Argentine techno scene, brings his signature touch to the EP with a remix that adds a new dimension to Gorji’s work. Cinelli, who began his DJing career at 14 and has since become one of Argentina’s most well-known techno producers, infuses the remix with his distinct style. Known for his harmonic blend of different styles and flawless mixing technique, Cinelli’s remix on the “Let’s Talk” EP is a testament to his skill and versatility.
Cinelli’s remix maintains the ethereal quality of “Freedom” but introduces more driving, techno-oriented percussions, which add their own level of unique intensity to the record. The syncopated bassline is enhanced with deeper, more resonant tones, and the percussions are sharper, creating a heightened sense of urgency and energy. The cosmic lead line from the original track is reinterpreted, adding a fresh layer of complexity and depth. This remix complements the original tracks and stands out as a standout piece in its own right.
Nima Gorji’s journey through the electronic music landscape is marked by his dedication and versatility. Having released music on labels like FUSE London, ELISION, BodyParts, Sci+Tec, and Deeperfect, Gorji has consistently pushed the boundaries of his sound. His residencies at iconic clubs such as Space Ibiza, Ibiza Underground, Monza, and Next Wave have cemented his reputation as a beloved performer in the clubbing community.
Franco Cinelli, born in Rosario, Argentina, has been a big figure in the techno scene since the mid-90s. His early work was inspired by the sounds of Detroit, and over the years, he has developed a unique style that blends countless different dance music genres. His live shows, combining vinyl and laptop performances, have garnered him international acclaim and solidified his status as a leading figure in the underground scene in Argentina’s boom industry (arguably one of the best in the world right now).
Suleiman Records, known for its commitment to high-quality electronic music over many years and countless releases, provides the perfect platform for Gorji and Cinelli to showcase their talents. The “Let’s Talk” EP is a testament to the label’s dedication to supporting innovative and influential artists in the electronic music world.
