As this year’s Orlando EDC comes to a close, it appears that the 2019 festival was a record-breaking one for a number of reasons.
Here’s a look at Orlando EDC by the numbers.
3 festival days took place for the 2019 EDC, marking the first time the Orlando festival has expanded beyond its usual two-day run.
4 stages were set up at the festival, each combining technology and nature in its own way. Their names were Kinetic Field, Circuit Grounds, Neon Garden and Stereo Bloom.
40 acres was the approximate footprint of Orlando EDC at Tinker Field. The 2019 festival was the largest yet, including an additional 10.5 acres more than the 2018 event.
225,000 attendees were estimated for the Orlando Electric Daisy Carnival, a record-breaking number when compared with last year’s 110,000 ravers.
160-plus artists performed over the course of three days at Tinker Field, including recognized artists such as Afrojack, DJ Snake, Deadmau5, Kaskade and Steve Aoki.
800 lighting fixtures and 700 square meters of video screen helped bring life to the music at Circuit Ground Stage, according to lighting and stage designer Steve Lieberman. And that wasn’t even nearly as big as the Kinetic Field Stage.
5 individuals were arrested during this year’s EDC, including two people on charges of trespass after warning and battery on a law enforcement officer. One person was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine and a firearm; another individual was accused of possessing 34 stolen cell phones. On the first day of the festival, one suspect was arrested on a grand theft charge, accused of stealing over $20,000 worth of media passes from an Insomniac production office and attempting to sell them online. All of the stolen property was recovered, police said.
91 noise complaints were received by Orlando police during the festival’s three-day run, according to an OPD spokeswoman. The festival wrapped up at midnight each evening, but I received three emails from readers shaken (literally) by the reverberating bass and noise from EDC, including one who lives more than six miles from the festival grounds.
More than $50 million is the forecasted economic impact for the city of Orlando as a result of this year’s EDC, which topped last year’s $35 million. This includes the money brought into the city from festival attendee spending on hotels, transportation and food in addition to money paid by Insomniac Events to local vendors, among other things.
One quote from Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer about Orlando EDC in 2019: “It has been thrilling to watch Electric Daisy Carnival not only grow through the years, but to thrive as a dance festival attracting people from all around the country and the globe. While the event is always colorful, fun and welcoming to everyone, the economic impact continues to benefit our community long after the music stops.”
$60,000 will be donated from Insomniac Cares (the event producer’s charitable giving arm) to Strengthen Orlando, a non-profit that helps provide funding for municipal purposes and projects in the city of Orlando. The funds will benefit the West Lakes community in the immediate vicinity of Tinker Field and Camping World Stadium for building improvements, landscaping projects and other community needs.
After this year’s record-breaking festival, Insomniac Events announced the dates for next year’s Orlando EDC — Nov. 13-15, 2020. Stay tuned for details about next year’s event and re-live the festivities from the 2019 event through our photo gallery and coverage.
