Ranger Trucco Cooks Up Perfect Summer Anthems – EDM Identity
by June 7, 2024Always on the move, rising deep-tech king Ranger Trucco is pushing a unique style. From Amsterdam and San Francisco to New York and more, he has thrived during his bustling run of shows this summer, including his appearances at Splash House in June and Spin Nightclub in San Diego in July. Now, Ranger Trucco has returned to streaming platforms with two fresh anthems on summer ‘23.
Since launching his label, Range, in the spring of 2022, Ranger Trucco has pushed into the deeper side of house music. Synergizing sounds between tech house, deep house, funk, pop, and hip-hop, he has showcased his innate ability to blend styles seamlessly. The latest pair of tracks from Ranger Trucco is the embodiment of his growth and maturity in the scene.
The summer ‘23 EP starts with “street knowledge.” The track opens with bouncy, spacious drums and percussion swinging ear to ear. Ranger Trucco quickly layers in warm synths providing tasteful stabs to keep heads bopping, and as the vocal eases in, tension rises before a release of ripping bass and pure groove. Each element converses with one another as the track ebbs and flows while its runtime remains full of surprises. This one makes you feel like it’s time to be outside, walking, dancing, and feeling the sun’s rays – and that’s what the second track is all about.
Conjuring imagery of a sunset stroll, “sunday walk.” provides warmth with a cool breeze. Once again, Ranger Trucco’s instrumentation creates conversation. The keyboards sparkle, the bass brings the funk, the vocal is introspective, and the sax and the marimba smooth it all out. This track has a swagger like no other with every element catchy and mesmerizing. Touching on themes of love, “sunday walk.” feels nostalgic. It’s familiar yet unexplored. It’s a memory that you don’t want to end.
Wrapping summer ’23 together is a Max Chapman remix of “street knowledge.” Giving a little glitch to the groove, the tech house maestro turns up the party by pushing the BPM and intensifying the beat. Laying down a hypnotic M1 Organ riff, Chapman tastefully recontextualizes the tune. It’s sly like it’s plotting something, and once listeners realize it, it’s too late.
