Sunset Music Fest returns Memorial Day weekend with strong EDM lineup – Tampa Bay Times
by June 1, 2024Last spring, the Sunset Music Festival was one of Tampa’s last major concerts to throw in the towel due to the coronavirus pandemic. And after two more postponements, it is finally a go for Memorial Day weekend with a lineup of top electronic dance music artists.
The colorful mega-festival takes place May 29-30 in Raymond James Stadium’s North Lot and features AC Slater, Destructo, Lizzy Jane, 12th Planet, LSDream, Rezz, Zomboy and many more. There will also be performances from DJs across all genres, with a mix of bass, house, trance and more for fans that dabble in a little bit of everything. The latest lineup announcement includes the introduction of Green Velvet, Inzo and Jack Beats as part of a back-to-back with Sage Armstrong, Midnight Tyrannosaurus and Riot Ten.
Ticketholders for last year’s event may still use their passes. If they can’t make it, they will be emailed information about refunds. Tickets are still on sale, starting at $109.95 at smftampa.com, although the festival’s official Twitter account says tickets are 90 percent sold out.
The festival’s parent company, Sunset Music Presents, is partnered with Disco Donnie Presents, which held a similar event in Texas in April, Ubbi Dubbi. Founder James “Disco Donnie” Estopinal Jr. said the success of that festival made him emotional.
“Looking back at Ubbi Dubbi, I can’t help but feel a sense of happiness at the thought of being able to tell my grandkids that I went to the first festival back and that I helped to save the rave,” Estopinal said in a statement. “This is not hyperbole. I look forward to seeing the rest of the rave scene follow suit.”
