In this new year of house music, it would appear that the vapid nature of yesterday’s tech-house is starting to fade while the more stimulating, afro-house seems to be the preferred avenue for the genre going forward. We all love a good beat but melody and a unique, syncopated rhythm certainly provide a lot more depth. 
Atjazz, Raffa Guido, DJ Merlon, and Enoo Napa represent that vibe in this month’s house chart but you’ll certainly find a lot more. Steve Angello goes back to basics with a new one that’ll stick in your brain while another star, Chris Lake keeps it massive as usual with his interpretation of The Chemical Brothers’ “No Reason.” Then there’s the lesser known, Rudee Nik who boasts the top spot in the chart with “Love Buzz” on Rebellion. A dreamy jam that utilizes the often sampled “Peanut Butter” by Gwen Guthrie circa 1983.
