The tony town of Southampton is bracing or this weekend’s techno music blowout — the Palm Tree Music Festival — with cops and local hotels sending out frantic alerts warning of noise and traffic.
The EDM fest founded by top DJ and producer Kygo, and headlined this year by Swedish House Mafia, was set to go down at Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach for the fourth year in a row.
But, as Page Six exclusively reported, the Federal Aviation Administration rejected the fest’s permit — and it was moved to land owned by the Shinnecock Indian Nation.
The village police department sent out an alert posted on the Village’s official Instagram feed that: “If you live in the vicinity of the Shinnecock Nation, you will hear the music.”
The message bolded up the word “will” for emphasis.
The alert went on to inform residents that if they call the cops for “loud music in the area and it is determined the music is coming” from the festival, “no action can be taken as it is not under our jurisdiction.”
The message also warned of “heavy traffic conditions,” in and around the village, and stated, “per New York State Police, do not utilize Montauk Highway from Hill Street/Tuckahoe Lane westbound to Southampton College/Tuckehoe Road. It will be gridlocked.”
Local hotels were also sending out warnings to their weekend guests.
An email — titled: “An Important Message Regarding Your Weekend Stay With Us” — was sent to those booked at the charming and exceedingly quiet Southampton Inn, telling guests about the fest.
“Operations will not be effected by this, however please expect an increase in traffic,” said the message that also offered up helpful routes to get around any jams.
Sofi Tukker, Purple Disco Machine, Xandra, Will Sass and Flat Stanley will all also hit the stage.
Past attendees have included Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, Sports Illustrated model Camille Kostek, “We Wore What” designer Danielle Bernstein, influencer Melissa Wood Tepperberg and Sophia Culpo.
